THE MOST EFFICIENT WIND FARM IN LUXEMBOURG
OEKOSTROUM WEILER
OekoStroum Weiler is a major windfarm situated in Weiler in the commune of Wincrange. The construction started in 2015. Since December 2016 the 7 windmills are operational.
OekoStroum Weiler is a reference in terms of size and technology used. Covering an aerea of 12ha, 7 Siemens windmills type SWT 3.0-113 will produce 51 500 000 kWh per year which correspond to the energetic consumption of 13 000 households.
In the perspective of the governmental environment objectives in 2020 OekoStroum Weiler will contribute 20% of the production capacity of all windpower in the Grand-Duchy and 0,8% of the overall renewable energy consumption.
Thus the CO2 emissions will be reduced by 55 000 000 kg compared to the production emissions of the coal plants.
The Commune of Wincrange who is a KlimaPact signatory was sustaining the project since its beginnings. In addition to the ecological aspect, OekoStroum Weiler has also a positive impact on the regional economy in contracting local firms and creating supplementary jobs.
